The Birmingham Back Pain ClinicDr David Evans is a Registered Osteopath. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy, London in 1998, winning the prestigious prize for 'best clinical performance' in his year group. Since that time he has been registered with the profession's regulatory body, the General Osteopathic Council.
As well as the Clinic, David has worked as an osteopath in several settings, including the occupational health department at BBC Birmingham (Pebble Mill), part of the medical team at Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club, and a NHS-funded clinic in Redditch, West Midlands. His patients have included several international athletes and professional and semi-professional sportspeople, General Practitioners, Hospital Consultants, and even a local Chiropractor.
David gained his PhD in 2007 from the School of Health and Rehabilitation, Keele University , which investigated 'best practice' in the management of low back pain in the UK. He has also authored several papers that have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In addition to lecturing widely on the topic of spinal manipulation, he is an editorial reviewer for numerous research journals, including Manual Therapy, the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine.
David currently holds a research position at the Warwick Clinical Trials Unit, University of Warwick where he has been involved in several projects, including the running of two large clinical trials. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the Research Centre at the British School of Osteopathy in London. He regularly lectures and teaches at the British School of Osteopathy, the School of Health and Rehabilitation, Keele University, and the Division of Physiotherapy & Nursing at the University of Birmingham. In addition, David also occasionally teaches and lectures in the UK and abroad on private courses and conferences.
